Twenty years ago, Duane Teem saw the potential of Ikari House, and he built it. Ever since, Ikari House has welcomed anglers to our beachfront home on Kiritimati.

Ikari House was made for fishing. Duane selected the prime location on the only channel connecting the vast lagoon system to the wide-open Pacific Ocean. He built relationships with staff and guides, built infrastructure, made it happen, and created the most reliable fishing experience on Christmas Island.

The Fishing

Ikari House runs on a week to week schedule. The fishing happens every day, year round.

Lodge-istics…

Logistics are a big part of the Ikari experience. The Republic of Kiribati is remote, making quality equipment and reliable staff essential to your fishing adventure. Our fleet of fast and comfortable fishing boats are the best on Christmas Island. When the power goes out, we use generators and solar. Our trucks start and have air in the tires! We have ice, AC, delicious meals, Starlink, and all the little things (and we have backups).

Above all, the staff and owners of Ikari House are here to host and welcome you to our home. We are a close family of guides, lodge managers, chefs, boatmen and helpful people. It’s an honor to host guests from around the world, and watch them go crazy for the fishing!

Location

More fishing. Less commuting.

You know when a spot is “fishy.” There are edges where the bait will attempt escape. Deep channels where predators are surely staging. The currents flow strongly. A confluence where the shelter of the lagoon meets the bluewater zone.

On Christmas Island, Ikari House is in this spot.

Access to fishing is steps away from your room. Other Christmas Island lodges require transport via truck to reach the lagoon (and long boat rides).
